Tel Aviv has a lot to offer all year long, but on June 30, 50 Bouhouse buildings will be lit, indie-rock bands will play music next to the city library, and most importantly: the hungry crowd will be able to enjoy specially made "white dishes" at restaurants.
It's safe to say that all nights in Tel Aviv are "white nights"; things are always happens here. Tel Aviv will be throwing an eventful night on June 30, but it's not uncommon for people to walk through its streets even at night time, all year long. Sometimes they're in a hurry and sometimes they linger. They check out the Bouhause construction, read poetry on bus stops, or just look at sights that might seem weird to outsiders – an actress reading her play lines at the center of Rotschild Boulevard, a homeless lady wearing a wedding dress next to a kiosk, rollerblade riders stopping the traffic.
In 2003 UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – has designated Tel Aviv as a World Heritage Site, and ever since then the people of the city celebrate this "white night" during which art and cultural events take place, musicians throw concerts on the streets, and everybody stays up all night.
Tel Aviv has a lot to offer all year long, but on June 30, 50 Bouhouse buildings will be lit, renowned singers Shlomo Gronich and Matti Caspi will play on the beach during sunrise, indie-rock bands will play music next to the city library, and most importantly: the hungry crowd will be able to enjoy specially made "white dishes" at restaurants.
For instance, take Fortuna Del Mer on Tel Aviv's beautiful marine next to the Carlton Hotel. On this special night it offers Tiger shrimps in Roquefort cheese and cream with Pastis for 86 NIS. Rotschild's Kitchen beautiful Bistro on the city's central Rotschild Boulevard will be offering special white dishes as well.
Also, don't miss out on Jaffa. It's just a walking distance from Tel Aviv's city center, and it's very interesting in itself too. Try Il Yaffo Caffé: it has a special offer for you which includes sea fish such as bream, sea-bass and others, house wine and some of the Chef's quality ice cream for 115 NIS.
