This group exhibition presents nine young painters exhibiting their work from the contemporary New York art scene.

The exhibition is the fruits of collaboration between the Hezi Cohen Gallery in Tel Aviv and some of the most dynamic galleries in New York, galleries that to a great extent are responsible for the NY art scene, as reflected in international art events.

In their own unique manner, each of the selected artists reflects the spirit of a time when a young artist attains meteoric success after having been identified as a budding star in art school, and the rapid process of ripe and fresh new creations and universes.

The works of these artists offer an intense encounter with a sensual moment in time, filled with a variety of materials, styles and painting techniques. The representations of reality expressed in the works point to on-going tendencies to depict a society based on excess and accessibility, as well as the infinite potential which is summoned through different strategies of synthesis and hybridization.

The artists and works which were selected for Fresh Apples are outstanding representations of a poisonous and seductive cocktail of carnival and horror, festivity and destruction, local folklore and universal fantasy. This is the cocktail being concocted in the New York limbo at these very moments.
