Lately I've become a little fed up with all the city night life of Tel Aviv and with the dark pickup bars scene there.So my Love and I decided to try a new place with a friendlier and wormer atmosphere and out of the city without looking for parking space for hours for a change.Not that we drove too far away but it was a good decision; going to the Dublin.
I was working in Hertzeliya Hi-tech area for a while and have heard few times about a nice Irish Pub which is located between all the fancy restaurants and offices, and that has a new approach to the concept of a pub in Israel. That is what we were looking for…As soon as we entered the Dublin we felt something else, even if it was in the middle of the week, they were many people and we didn't felt all alone there. In few short moments the friendly waitress caught us and smiled, she asked where we prefer to sit and that there is a live show later this evening so we sat in a space which was direct line from the stage which was on the other side of the pub; even if we really were interested of trying the snug next to us (something that unfamiliar to the tiny bars around Tel- Aviv) but it was a wise decision after all.The owner of place, Aaron, was a really friendly and great host and told us all about the story of the Dublin and gave us a great feeling that we are at home with our entire new friends around.
There are three ''Dublin'' (Hertzliya, Rechovot and Jerusalem) and the idea to bring the Irish pubs tradition to Israel brought up few years ago with the motive to add new aspects to the night life experience and upgrade the alcohol taste and knowledge of the Israeli audience.For most Irish and European people it is very common to go out for a drink after work mostly for relaxation and meeting their friends; In Israel, the alcohol culture and leisure is much different and focused mostly at night time when people are much tired and therefore need to make a bigger efforts to get out of the house again; so most of the nightlife and partying had became a big project and mostly for weekends.
That is the gap where the Dublin comes into. People can come after work at 5:00 PM O'clock with their colleagues and by themselves, sit and relax after a stressful day they had, meet and chat with new people and make them their friends, watch sports on the wide screens around, Drink great Alcohol from the variety selection they have there, and enjoy their free time just before they go home or to other activities they have.
My love and I came a bit hungry and we were afraid that we will stay the same and mostly drank, but the owners of the place recommend us of few favorite dishes to try. Actually the menu was filled with great culinary options and not strictly beverages, which wouldn't ashamed a good restaurant.We followed his recommendations and order four main dishes.
We decided of ordering Spare Ribs on the Grill with a sweet maple sauce on top (600 gr.!), a basket filled with small pieces of breaded (with beer) fried chicken schnitzels and French fries, Calamari rings breaded (again with beer) and with a side tasty Yogurt sauce, and the fourth surprising dish was the home pizza that had sesame seeds at the ends and with a sweet and fresh tomato sauce.
