EPOS – International Art Film Festival Irit Mor
From October 23-27, 2010 the Tel Aviv Cinematheque will host EPOS for the second year in a row. Irit Mor gives an overview of the film offerings as well as some of the special features.
Epos, the International festival for art and culture films, is being held for the second year in a row at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

The festival will screen feature and documentary films related to and dealing with the various arts: Music (popular, jazz, classical, electronic); Dance; Literature and Poetry; Art; Theatre and Film.

This is a unique opportunity to see Israeli and international films, by the finest filmmakers, dealing with a huge range of subjects and personal stories, and to encounter cultural heroes from a wide spectrum of fields under one roof, including: Leonard Cohen, Gustav and Alma Mahler, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Charlie Hieden, Cindy Sherman, Don Giovanni, Chekhov’s Cheery Orchard, the art of recycling, theatre in prison, and more.

During the festival, fifty films from all corners of the globe will be screened – Ireland, England, US, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Poland, France, Canada, Romania, Russia – and ten Israeli films.

This year the festival will also host directors, artists and producers from many countries to speak about the films. One featured guest is British director Tony Palmer, who will hold a master class on filmmaking and research into classical and popular music. He will screen two of his films – a drama centering on Fredrik Chopin and a rare documentary from the mid 1970s about Leonard Cohen.

The festival’s films will be shown at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, Tel Aviv ZOA (Zionists of America) house, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Suzanne Dellal Center, Jerusalem Cinematheque, Haifa Cinematheque, Sderot Cinematheque, Nazareth Cinematheque, Dimona Cinematheque, and the culture centers in the Emek and kibbutz Baram.
