Israeli gourmet food Guy Soffer
Limonim is a Kosher restaurant, specializing in Israeli gourmet food, the idea is the serve delicious, well balanced, presentable dishes, while keeping the original local taste.
The Chan theater in Jerusalem is located inside an old Templar building, built of the typical Jerusalem stone. When you enter the building, a sign points you towards the second story to the Limonim (lemons in Hebrew) restaurant, where you can sit, have a good meal, drink, and watch the trees in the inner courtyard just below you.

Limonim was recently sold off and the new manager is planning some changes. The staff is more mature, and thus friendly, yet serious and dedicated. They are planning on adding a very large bar within the week, and are currently negotiating to have a well known chef to help out.

Limonim is a Kosher restaurant, specializing in Israeli gourmet food, the idea is the serve delicious, well balanced, presentable dishes, while keeping the original local taste.

For example, we had the ''Fruit of the land'' salad (39 NIS), which consists of large spinach leaves, rocket leaves, various nuts, sunflowers seeds, sprouts, and slices of oranges, apples and grapefruit, all mixed in a with a delicious soy sauce made with pomegranates. A truly light and tasty salad.

Another salad we had was the Tabule salad (41 NIS), a special made for the holidays. While a Tabule salad can be found in many restaurants, this salad had mint leaves and pomegranate seeds in it to add sweetness and spiciness, to make a very interesting combination of tastes.

Of course, the restaurant is not limited to salads. In addition to several appetizers and stir-fried dishes, the menu sports a nice selection of meat and fish. The meat is delivered fresh every day, to ensure the best taste. There are always specials, which change daily, so make sure to listen, there are always good things offered, that are not necessarily detailed on the menu.

We had an Entrecote steak dish (78 NIS), 300 grams of fresh Entrecote, made to order, with steamed vegetables and a serving on potatoes, rice, or french fries on the side. Delicious !

We also ordered a Salmon fillet (72 NIS) – baked in a brick pizza oven, served with port and figs, steamed vegetables and a serving on potatoes, rice, or french fries. The fish is extremely soft because of the way it’s cooked, a unique experience.

From the wide selection of desserts, we selected a chocolate mousse cake (25 NIS) spiced with orange juice, and a hot apple pie with coconut ice cream (35 NIS). Both dishes we very good.

Our only problem with the evening is that the Chan show was cancelled that evening, but that will easily be remedied, and now we also know where to go for dinner afterwards.

Bon Appetite !
