Kardo

“The cuisine, like the look and feel, is inspired by ancient Jerusalem. Dishes are mostly Middle Eastern and Moroccan in style, with plenty of fresh salads…” Kardo, in the heart of the Old City in Jerusalem, is the ultimate atmospheric location to host an event.

Situated in the Kardo, the heart of the Jewish quarter of the old city od Jerusalem, Kardo Kayad Hamelech (La Table du Roi) Event Hall was opened four and a half years ago by Daniel, a French immigrant who comes from a line of professional caterers (his father is a caterer in France.)

The space is made up of 3 halls, one which seats 170, a second for 150, and a third suited to 50 people, allowing hosts to select the most suitable space for their Henna ceremony, bar or bat mitvza, wedding, family event, company event or any other reason to gather and celebrate. Tourists seeking a unique event experience are also regular Kardo customers, with hundreds of Birthright groups discovering the ancient land of Israel.

Upon arrival at Kardo, guests are greeted by shofar blowers ushering them into an ancient Jerusalem experience of 2000 years ago during the period of the Second Temple. The building, with its graceful high arched ceilings, dates back to the Byzantine period. The ancient Jerusalem experience is rounded out by waiters in period costumes and a costume treasure chest that allow guests to join in on the period fun by diving in and adorning themselves with robes, sandals, shields, spears and jewelry.

After period costuming is complete, guests enter the restaurant to relax on the comfortable sofas and take in the authentic décor. Then it’s time for the feast to begin!

The cuisine, like the look and feel, is inspired by ancient Jerusalem. Dishes are mostly Middle Eastern and Moroccan in style, with plenty of fresh salads and various choices for generous main dishes, including a Mixed grill platter, Kebab, Lamb chops, Couscous with vegetable soup and meat goulash, Moussaka, and Stuffed Peppers. Owner Daniel’s favourite is the traditional Moroccan Chicken Tagine with dried fruits.

Traditionally ancient inspired side dishes include: Bedouin rice, Canaanite rice with almonds and Pilgrim potatoes in olive oil and rosemary. For those who fancy more ‘modern’ side dish selections there are also French fries and stir-fried vegetables.

Just a short walk from the Western Wall, Kardo is not only a uniquely atmospheric location for events, but is also perfectly located for a pre or post event stroll through the old city and visit to the Wall.
